Exelare for Windows is a desktop application that works interchangeably with our web application, Exelare for Web. Exelare users can use the desktop app, or the web app, based on what is most convenient to their working environment. It doesn’t matter which app you use since both access the same real time, cloud connected database.
cBizSoft does recommend using Exelare For Windows as your “primary” way of accessing your Exelare database. Mostly because Exelare for Windows is a native application and therefore offers additional functionality not available in web browsers. cBizSoft will however continue to invest in and improve upon both the browser and desktop applications of Exelare moving forward.
The History
When we first created Exelare almost 3 years ago, we went in the direction of a fully web based rich internet application that utilized Microsoft Silverlight as the front end layer. Unfortunately Silverlight is a technology that Microsoft has decided to stop improving upon. This lack of support is the cause of the errors experienced by our users and therefore Silverlight isn’t a viable option for Exelare moving forward. Luckily, as we mentioned way back in 2012, the majority of our development efforts have been focused on the back end layer. As such, we have been able to pivot our strategy relatively quickly and take a fresh approach for the future of cBizSoft and Exelare.
The Solution
For the past 6 months we have been working hard on a brand new Windows application, utilizing the latest technologies for PC’s (.NET, WPF). In addition to this, we have been developing the future generation of Exelare for Web, based on HTML5 as the Front End layer.
Moving forward cBizSoft will continue to invest in both desktop and web based applications for Exelare, in addition to mobile applications for smartphones. Each application will sync to the same common database hosted in the cloud. This means you can use the web app or the desktop app, the mobile apps, or all of them – it doesn’t matter. The database is one and the same between them all.
First up to the plate? Exelare for Windows! After many long months of coding and testing, we are happy to say that Exelare for Windows is ready for prime time! Over 500 people are actively using it on a day to day basis with great success. Based on the results so far, we are confident you will be happy with the new product!
What Happens Next
Exelare for Windows is available to both new and existing users on a limited release. We are slowly allowing clients to use the application, and will increase the rate at which we allow transitions over the next few months.
